Therapy for FIrst Responders in EVERGREEN,CO

Is it hard to open up, or even relax, when you're off duty? Maybe talking feels like too much right now, or you've been holding it together for so long that you've forgotten what calm feels like. You spend your days showing up for others. This is a place where someone shows up for you.

Therapy for first responders is a confidential, judgment-free space built around the realities of your work. You don't have to explain the job, downplay what you've seen, or pretend you're okay. Using approaches like EMDR, CBT, and DBT, and outdoor therapy we work at your pace to help your body settle, ease the weight you've been carrying, and help you feel like yourself again.

How therapy can help you:

  • Process trauma and difficult calls without reliving them

  • Ease stress, anxiety, and the feeling of always being on edge

  • Improve sleep and help your body come down from high alert

  • Reconnect with family, friends, and life outside of work

  • Manage burnout, irritability, and emotional numbness

  • Express what you're feeling, even when the words are hard to find

  • Build tools you can use on the job and at home

HEALING ON YOUR TERMS

Healing doesn't have to happen in an office. It can happen on a trail, under the trees, or anywhere you feel safe and heard. You're the expert on your story, and I'll walk alongside you as you find clarity and move toward lasting healing.

What to Expect When working with a first responder Therapist

Asking for help can feel unfamiliar when your job is to be the one who helps. Here's how the process works, so you know what to expect.

1. A free, confidential consultation
We'll start with a short call to talk about what's going on, answer your questions, and see whether we're a good fit. Nothing is shared with your department or employer.

2. Getting to know you and the job
In the first sessions, we'll talk about your role, the calls that have stayed with you, and how the work is affecting your sleep, relationships, and well-being. You set the pace and decide what to share.

3. Building tools for the stress of the job
We'll focus on practical skills to calm your nervous system, manage stress on and off shift, and handle hypervigilance, irritability, and trouble sleeping.

4. Processing critical incidents and trauma
When you're ready, we'll use trauma-informed approaches such as EMDR, along with nature- and animal-assisted therapy, to help ease the weight of difficult calls and cumulative stress.

5. Moving forward on and off duty
As healing takes hold, we'll work on reconnecting with family, rebuilding balance, and sustaining a long, healthy career, or a healthy transition out of one.
