EMDR Therapy in EVERGREEN, CO

Does a memory still hit you like it's happening right now? Maybe a moment keeps replaying, certain sounds or smells set you off, or you've talked about it again and again and nothing changes. Your mind knows it's over, but your body hasn't gotten the message.

EMDR helps your brain finish processing the memories that got stuck, so they feel less intense and easier to carry. With guided eye movements, tapping, or other gentle back-and-forth rhythms, you can start to heal without having to talk through every detail.

How EMDR can help:

  • Take the sting out of painful memories so they stop running your life

  • Heal without retelling everything that happened

  • Ease flashbacks, anxiety, and low mood

  • Feel relief sooner than you might expect

  • Stay steadier when something sets you off

  • Let go of beliefs like "It was my fault" or "I'm not safe"

  • Understand yourself better and feel more like you again

  • Heal at a pace that feels safe, with a clear, step-by-step process

What TO EXPECT When working with a EMDR therapist-

EMDR is a proven therapy that helps your brain process painful memories so they feel less intense and less overwhelming. You don't have to talk through every detail of what happened. Here's what the process looks like.

1. A free consultation
We'll start with a brief call to talk about what's bringing you in, explain how EMDR works, and make sure it's a good fit for you.

2. Getting to know your story
In the first sessions, we'll explore your history, your current challenges, and the memories or experiences you'd like to work on. You choose what to share.

3. Preparing and building calm
Before any memory work, we'll practice grounding and calming techniques, like a calm-place exercise, so you feel safe and in control throughout the process.

4. Reprocessing memories
While you briefly focus on a memory, we'll use bilateral stimulation such as guided eye movements, tapping, or tones. This helps your brain reprocess the experience so it loses its emotional charge. You can pause at any time.

5. Strengthening positive beliefs
As distress decreases, we'll reinforce healthier beliefs about yourself, such as "I'm safe now" or "I did the best I could."

6. Closing and checking in
Each session ends with time to settle and feel grounded. At the start of the next session, we'll review your progress and adjust as needed.
