EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy designed to help people heal from trauma, distressing memories, or overwhelming life experiences. It uses guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation to help the brain reprocess stuck memories so they feel less intense and more manageable. Many clients find relief without needing to talk in detail about the painful event.

Benefits of EMDR Therapy

  • Helps reduce the intensity of traumatic memories and related distress

  • Processes unresolved trauma without needing to talk through every detail

  • Can decrease symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression

  • Often leads to faster relief compared to some other therapies

  • Supports improved emotional regulation and coping skills

  • Helps change negative beliefs tied to past experiences

  • Can enhance self-awareness and promote personal growth

  • Provides a structured, safe approach to healing difficult memories

OUR APPROACH

I believe healing doesn’t just have to happen in an office setting—it can happen on a trail, under the trees, or simply in a space where you feel seen and heard. OUR practice is grounded in the belief that you are the expert of your own story. With a human-centered, nature-inspired approach, I’ll walk alongside you as you reconnect with yourself, find clarity, and move toward lasting healing.

What you can expect

In EMDR, you’ll begin by building trust with your therapist and identifying a target memory or experience to work on. You'll then be guided through a series of eye movements, tapping, or sounds while focusing on aspects of the memory. This process helps your brain "unstick" the memory and reprocess it in a way that feels less distressing.

Clients often feel emotions come up during sessions, but you won’t be asked to relive the trauma in detail. Over time, the memory becomes less triggering, and many clients report feeling lighter, more grounded, and more in control of their responses.

EMDR is structured, collaborative, and typically moves at a pace that feels safe for you. Sessions may also include preparation work, grounding tools, and post-processing reflection.
